Job SummaryUnder limited supervision, the administrative assistant will provide organizational and clerical support to the Director of Veteran Services and staff members as needed. Primary responsibilities of this position include coverage of the main reception desk, screening phone calls/walk-ins and taking messages. Assist walk-in students and guests with appointments, answering general Veteran/Dependent educational benefit questions. Clerical duties such as filing and relaying messages;
processing and disseminating information to internal and external constituents; assisting in managing the office; and preparing fiscal and budgetary reports; assisting with Veteran Work-Studies as a member of Veterans Services, the administrative assistant will benefit from being part of a small, cohesive team environment.
- Good listening and communication skills, customer service, organized, ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree (or in progress of earning AS degree).
Efficient in Microsoft Office, ability to work with little supervision, knowledgeable in VA educational benefits (will train) communicate effectively, Veteran or Veteran dependent.
