The Office Manager for Custodial Services provides advanced administrative, operational, and program coordination support essential to the effective functioning of custodial operations across Salt Lake Community College campuses. This position serves as the central hub for communication, coordination, workflow management, and operational support for a large and complex department of approximately 140 full-time and part-time employees.
In addition to managing high-level administrative functions, the Office Manager independently coordinates department-wide programs, processes, and initiatives that support operational effectiveness, employee onboarding, workforce administration, and cross-campus communication. The position acts as a key liaison between Custodial Services and numerous college departments including Facilities Services, Human Resources, Payroll, Purchasing, Budget, and Custodial leadership to ensure efficient and consistent operations.
The Office Manager develops and administers the department's onboarding and employee integration program, coordinating processes, resources, training documentation, compliance requirements, and employee support activities for new hires across multiple campus locations. Through strong organizational leadership, project coordination, process improvement, and relationship management, this position contributes directly to the department's ability to provide safe, clean, and well-maintained learning environments for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
AdministrativeOperations and Department Coordination
- Perform a wide range of advanced administrative and office management functions with limited supervision; act as a self-starter who independently identifies needs and implements solutions.
- Serve as the primary administrative support resource for Custodial Services operations across multiple campuses and facilities.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, projects, and competing operational demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain critical departmental records, files, compliance documentation, reports, and operational data with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, reports, presentations, workforce data, and operational documents utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and institutional systems.
- Support departmental operations by identifying issues, evaluating alternatives, recommending solutions, and implementing process improvements.
- Serve as a central communication resource for supervisors, managers, employees, vendors, and campus partners.
- Onboarding Program Coordination and Workforce Administration (30%)
- Develop, coordinate, administer, and continuously improve the department-wide onboarding program for Custodial Services employees.
- Create and maintain onboarding materials, process documentation, orientation resources, training schedules, and compliance tracking tools.
- Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires across multiple campus locations and work sites.
- Collaborate with People and Workplace Culture, Payroll, Staff Development, Facilities Services, and departmental leadership to facilitate successful employee onboarding and workforce transitions.
- Monitor onboarding processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend enhancements that improve employee readiness, engagement, and retention.
- Assist with staffing support functions, employee record administration, and workforce-related processes using institutional systems for a department of approximately 140 employees.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders throughout Facilities Services, Business Services, Purchasing, People and Workplace Culture, Payroll, and other college departments.

- Participate in departmental initiatives, special projects, operational improvements, and cross-functional work groups.
- Serve as a departmental resource regarding operational processes, onboarding, purchasing procedures, workforce administration, and administrative systems.
