Overview

PRINCIPAL ENERGY MARKET ADVISOR – REMOTE USA

Engie Impact is seeking a Principal Energy Market Advisor to serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert across U.S. electricity, natural gas, and renewable energy markets. The role combines deep analytical capability, regulatory insight, and strategic communication to support delivery excellence and operational decision-making, translating complex market and regulatory developments into actionable intelligence to inform procurement timing, client advisory, and organizational positioning.

Role Responsibilities:

This role serves as the organization's primary subject matter expert across U.S. electricity, natural gas, and renewable energy markets. It combines deep analytical capability, regulatory insight, and strategic communication to support delivery excellence and operational decision-making. It transforms complex market and regulatory developments into actionable intelligence to enable better procurement timing, client advisory, and organizational positioning in the marketplace.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; preferably in math, environmental science, economics, business, or engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, particularly in energy procurement, energy contracting, renewable energy products, utilities, finance, risk management, or quantitative analysis.
  • Utility experience or knowledge of utility bill calculations required.
  • May consider a combination of relevant experience with educational and other skills and abilities in lieu of educational requirement.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for wholesale market intelligence for internal and external clients, with emphasis on domestic energy markets, commercial and industrial sectors, and their connection to international market dynamics.
  • Responsible for analyzing fundamental and technical market drivers to assess short- and long-term pricing trends.
  • Decipher trends, anomalies, and patterns in complex datasets.
  • Research and monitor legislative, regulatory, and ISO/RTO-level developments affecting market design and energy pricing.
  • Sustain comprehensive knowledge of regulatory markets while analyzing how emerging regulatory changes may affect clients and internal operations.
  • Provide delivery teams with actionable insights into pricing trends, supply-demand dynamics, and risk factors, and support the development of complex energy procurement and risk management strategies.
  • Develop and deliver market outlooks, reports, and briefings that inform procurement strategies, client engagements, and operational planning.
  • Create clear, compelling market summaries for diverse audiences and provide education to clients on complex energy market dynamics and metrics.
  • Maintain proactive communication to highlight emerging risks and opportunities, while representing the organization's expertise in public forums and publications.
  • Host bi-weekly internal energy market update sessions and develop presentation materials.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and distribute thought leadership materials, including white papers, webinars, blogs, and conference presentations.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate an authoritative and consultative approach that builds rapport within senior client leadership.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently within the highest levels of a client organization, including at the C-level.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skill level required.
  • SQL experience strongly preferred;
    Power BI strongly preferred.
  • Must be detail-oriented, flexible, adaptable and self-motivated.
  • Skill in analyzing and interpreting utility and tariff data.
  • Ability to handle deadlines and high-stress situations on a periodic basis.
Work Environment and Travel
  • Work schedules are determined by business need and manager discretion; full-time employment is considered 40 hours per week.
  • Travel to off-site events occurs rarely and may be required.
  • As a global organization, attending meetings and events during early mornings and evenings may be required.
