Job Title: L3 Support Engineer — LeX Platform (Java & Linux)
Location:
Salt Lake City, UT
We are seeking an experienced L3 Support Engineer to support the LeX (Learning Experience) platform, an enterprise-scale internal application. This role requires strong hands-on experience in Java application support, Linux environments, and distributed systems, with a focus on production stability, incident management, and root cause analysis.
The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in application support and will work closely with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure high availability and performance of the LeX platform.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Level 3 production support for the LeX platform, diagnosing and resolving complex Java application issues.
- Perform in-depth analysis of application and system logs, identify root causes, and escalate unresolved issues to development teams with detailed documentation.
- Monitor system health, perform maintenance activities, and proactively identify performance bottlenecks, defects, and system errors.
- Support deployments and release activities, including configuration changes such as rate limits and user onboarding.
- Manage incidents end-to-end, ensuring clear communication with users, application owners, and senior stakeholders.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and recommend long-term fixes and process improvements.
- Analyze incident trends and failure patterns, and collaborate with application development teams for permanent resolutions.
- Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting documentation to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual errors.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in L3 application support or similar roles.
- Strong proficiency in Java with hands-on experience debugging production issues.
- Solid experience working in Linux-based environments (commands, processes, log analysis).
- Experience supporting distributed systems and enterprise applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise platforms.
