OME Fatality Review Specialist

FT / PT Status – Full-Time
Benefits Eligibility – This position is eligible for a full benefits package.

Salary – $21.41 - $37.86 Hourly Wage

Remote Work / In-Office – Hybrid

The Utah DHHS Office of the Medical Examiner seeks a highly organized, professional, and passionate public health professional to coordinate multiple fatality review committees. The fatality review coordinator manages multidisciplinary case reviews, analyzes public health data, and facilitates partnerships to identify systemic gaps and drive prevention strategies. This role coordinates logistics for review committees, compiles case information, synthesizes case records, prepares and presents case presentations, ensures confidential record management, and translates findings into actionable policy recommendations.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience facilitating meetings on complex topics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary fatality review meetings across public health, law enforcement, and social services.
  • Decides upon the need for additional data, information, etc, and authorizes the means necessary to obtain the required information.
  • Collect, manage, analyze and synthesize sensitive case data and present the information in a cogent fashion.
  • Prepare case files, agendas, timelines, and formal review.
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with partner agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Accurately record committee discussions, capture recommendations, and enter recommendations into a case management application.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to review committees, prevention coalitions, and stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in public health, social work, public policy, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Professional experience in program coordination, data analysis, or human services.
  • Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary review processes and confidentiality protocols.
  • Excellent communication, meeting facilitation, and public speaking skills.

Other Necessary Requirements:

  • The ability to work in a medicolegal death investigation and forensic pathology environment.

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

  • Experience participating in or facilitating fatality review committees
  • Experience in medicolegal death investigation or mortality related public health work
  • Ability to travel in-state
  • A Driver’s License
