Location: Tea, SD (right off I-29)

Work Hours: 7:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer III is a senior-level engineering role responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to support efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production within DeGeest’s Steel Works division. This role works cross-functionally to support production, quality, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives in a high-mix fabrication and weldment environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
  • Create, review, and maintain Bills of Manufacture (BOMs), part files, drawings, and specifications to support production and quality requirements.
  • Design and build tooling, fixtures, and work-holding solutions to improve production consistency and flow.
  • Program and support CNC and robotic automation using tools such as Gibbs

    CAM and Reis/Kuka robot programming.
  • Lead new product onboarding and First Article processes, including customer communication, vendor coordination, and internal quality validation.
  • Transition First Article parts to full production by establishing tooling, fixtures, and standard processes.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production and quality issues using root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve flow, and lower costs.
  • Analyze production data, rework, and job efficiency metrics to drive process improvements.
  • Support equipment and facility maintenance programs and lead capital equipment or facility improvement projects.
  • Utilize ERP systems to support production tracking, quality processes, maintenance documentation, and data accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with production, operations, quality, supply chain, and finance teams to support customer demand and operational goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education and Training
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
    Experience
    • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
    • Experience in fabrication, weldments, and high-volume or high-mix production environments.
    • Proficiency with CAD and manufacturing software such as Solid Works, ERP systems, and CNC/CAM programming.
    • Experience with automation, tooling, fixtures, and process optimization.
    • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles; ISO experience preferred.

    Note:

    Final compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is eligible for a bonus.
