Position Overview
Kern Community College District seeks a part‑time, hourly adjunct instructor for the East Kern campus in the Rising Scholars Program. The hourly rate is $67.00, subject to variation based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent formula. This position is available for up to two years and is part of a continuous hourly faculty pool.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction in a full range of economics courses.
- Participate in student recruitment and articulation activities.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency.
- Develop and revise curriculum across multiple teaching modalities.
- Use computer and multimedia technology to support learning.
- Assess student learning and program‑level outcomes.
- Collaborate collegially in department, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
- Teach in a variety of formats, including day, evening, weekend, large classes, distance‑learning, and incarcerated‑student programs.
- Master’s degree in Economics.
- Or Bachelor’s in Economics plus a Master’s in Business, Business Administration, Business Education, Finance, or Political Science.
- Or possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Economics at the California Community College level.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and accomplishments, for which an Application for Equivalence must be submitted with supporting documents.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Degrees from accredited institutions (Title V § 53406). Foreign degrees must be evaluated by an accredited service.
- Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues and students.
- Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
