Position: Fire Technology Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool (Tehachapi)

Job Overview

Kern Community College District – Temporary adjunct instructor position in Fire Technology, located in CC - East Kern, Tehachapi, CA. Salary $67.00 per hour. The position involves teaching at multiple campus sites, including day, evening, weekend, distance learning, and large classes, using diverse teaching methodologies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for a full range of Fire Technology courses.
  • Teach at multiple campus locations and across various class times and platforms.
  • Participate in student recruitment and articulation activities.
  • Maintain subject matter currency.
  • Develop and revise curriculum.
  • Use computer and multimedia technology.
  • Collaborate collegially with department, college, and discipline professionals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of occupational or professional experience related to teaching, or
  • Associate’s degree plus 6 years of occupational or professional experience related to teaching, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and accomplishments; submit an application for equivalence if qualifying.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
  • Certification or evaluation of degrees from accredited institutions; foreign degrees evaluated by NACES or ACEI.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Work effectively with colleagues, promoting innovation, learning, and service.
  • Work effectively with students of diverse skills and goals.
  • Develop curriculum across modalities.
  • Recruit students and articulate with local schools, colleges, universities.
  • Communicate orally and in writing.
  • Maintain subject matter currency.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Use computers and new technologies.
  • Commitment to the California community college mission.
