Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
Responsibilities
Oversee the general accounting function to ensure the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and to ensure the department is operating accurately and efficiently and following corporate policy and procedures.
- Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
- Streamlines Accounts Payable and Accounting processes including but are not limited to: overseeing month end close, General Ledger preparation, financial reporting, budget, forecast activities and special projects assigned.
- Prepare/assign/review Balance Sheet Reconciliations for all SoCal entities on a monthly basis and all operating expenses reconciliations.
- Responsible for ensuring deadlines are met for the monthly sales tax, quarterly & annual HCAI reporting, the annual W-2, 1099 process, quarterly / annual payroll filings, and annual tax package.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget process.
- Ensures Finance Department is operating within policy and meets audit standards / SOX Standards, as demonstrated by successful internal and external audit review results.
- Provides training and assistance to new and existing staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Southwest Healthcare Regional office in Temecula, CA is seeking an on-site Regional Director of Accounting who will be responsible for overseeing the general accounting function to ensure the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and ensuring the department operates accurately and efficiently while following corporate policy and procedures.
QualificationsEducation / Training / Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Accounting or Finance required.
- Master's degree from an accredited College or University in related field preferred.
- Five (5) to Ten (10) years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Accounts Payable, and California payroll required.
- Minimum three (3) years Finance leadership experience required, acute care experience preferred.
- Proficient in GAAP and Healthcare financial accounting/reporting processes.
Certifications / Licenses
- CPA preferred.

- Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with the Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrates compliance with Healthcare policies and procedures at all times.
- Ability to set priorities and appropriately organize workload and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
- Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll procedures.
- Working knowledge of wage and hour laws for hospitals.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Accounting Policies/Practice and compliance with deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to develop various tools to help monitor and assess operational performance. High degree of attention to detail and the ability to organize time and records.
- Stays current on GAAP, Accounting trends, and CA State statutes.
- Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Travel: 10%.
