Health Education Assistant (HEA) assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing Prop 64-funded youth cannabis prevention activities and initiatives through the Friday Night Live program. Coordinates and supports prevention education, youth development, alternative activities, conferences, outreach events, and youth-led projects. Collaborates with schools, community organizations, youth groups, and community partners to facilitate program implementation and provide ongoing technical assistance and support. Prepares educational and outreach materials, presentations, program supplies, and event logistics;

collects, enters, tracks, and maintains program participation, demographic, activity, and evaluation data; and administers pre- and post-surveys and other program outcome measures. Maintains accurate program records and documentation to support grant requirements and deliverables, and assists with progress reports, evaluation summaries, and monitoring of program objectives and outcomes. Assists with procurement, inventory, and preparation of program materials and equipment, and participates in staff and community meetings, trainings, and program planning activities.

Performs other related duties as necessary to support Proposition 64 grant objectives and youth substance use prevention efforts.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • EDUCATION
    - Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in community health education, public health, health sciences or services, health education, behavioral or social sciences, or closely related field.
  • EXPERIENCE
    - One year of experience as a Health Education Assistant I with the County of Riverside.
  • Work Schedule:

    5/40 Monday
    - Friday 8AM
    -4:30PM

Education & Experience
  • Education:

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in community health education, public health, health sciences or services, health education, home economics, foods and nutrition, kinesiology, family or consumer related sciences, behavioral or social sciences, or closely related field.
  • Experience:

    One year of experience as a Health Education Assistant I with the County of Riverside.
  • Knowledge of:
    Health education principles, methods, and techniques, including the preparation of educational materials and the means of disseminating educational information to the public through mass media; community resources and their functions; techniques of collecting and compiling data pertinent to health education program planning and evaluation; common health problems of target groups in the community, their causes and prevention; group dynamics and human behavior.
  • Ability to:
    Prepare public educational materials such as pamphlets, posters, displays, and exhibits; present ideas accurately, concisely and effectively, both orally and in writing; prepare and deliver effective oral presentations before public and professional groups; organize and conduct meetings, training forums, and seminars; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of community agencies, organizations, and individuals.
