Carter Estate Winery and Resort is seeking an experienced Tasting Room Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience in a retail environment, a knowledge of wine, and a proven record in exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities- Assist in promoting the sale of wine and non‑wine products sold in the tasting room.
- Utilize cash register and POS system to transact sales and maintain tasting room wine inventories; reconcile daily sales and post transactions.
- Ensure tasting room and inventory areas are clean, neat, and stocked at all times.
- Describe wines, wine‑making techniques, and winery history; answer visitors’ questions about wines.
- Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of the winery and its wines.
- Assign duties and monitor the quality of work.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively work to promote and recognize performance.
- Keep up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
- Assist with the cleanliness and maintenance of the bar area. Rack glasses and clean during downtime.
- Prepare designated bar for daily wine tasting and conduct tastings with guests, guiding them on their selections and teaching them about the varietals and styles of wine.
- Alert department head when wine inventory needs are running low.
- Provide assistance with inventory as needed.
- Attend departmental meetings as required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including a majority of weekend shifts.
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
