Responsibilities Specific to Tasting Room Manager
  • Possess and live Europa Village core values.
  • Manages and oversees the Tasting Room operation.
  • With the involvement of the Director of Tasting Rooms, is responsible for hiring and training new employees.
  • Oversees day-to-day hospitality operations while maintaining the core values, standards and ambiance of the winery.
  • Responsible for achieving or exceeding financial goals, including wine sales, retail sales and Wine Club sign-ups.
  • Creates employee schedules to ensure adequate and efficient staffing of the Tasting Room at all times.
  • Delivers unsurpassed guest service to maximize guest satisfaction.
  • Leads and motivates sales and supports the team to achieve revenue goals; updates staff on new wines and promotions. Assists sales staff as needed.
  • Controls operational costs and identifies measures to cut waste.
  • Assesses and improves profitability of the Tasting Room.
  • Serves as a winery representative during in-house and outside promotional functions.
  • Conducts tours for VIP consumer and trade visits.
  • Understands the Société Memberships and assists with selling and updating of memberships and members’ data.
  • Develops relevant industry relationships as well as maintain relationships with existing key clients and vendors.
  • Creates detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual, commissions, revenues and expenses.
  • Reports on sales trends as requested by Director of Tasting Rooms.
  • Conducts annual Tasting Room staff reviews with the involvement of the Director of Tasting Rooms.
  • Accurately and efficiently run POS system.
  • Answer telephones, take reservations, and respond to guests in a timely manner.
  • Responds efficiently and accurately to guests’ questions and complaints.
  • Comfortable working on feet for long periods of time.
  • Works closely with Wine Club Director to continue club growth and membership retention.
  • Manages the opening and closing of the tasting room involving cash handling, including drawer reconciliations and bank deposits.
  • Ensures the nightly deposits are completed and done correctly.
  • Manages Europa Village’s good image and suggests ways to improve it.
  • Appraises staff performance and provides feedback to improve productivity.
  • Maintains stock levels and orders supplies or delegates supply ordering when necessary.
  • Ability to “read” the Tasting Room and surrounding areas and know what areas and/or guests need attention. Able to serve guests in the Tasting Room when Agents need assistance.
  • Maintains the overall appearance of all areas of the Tasting Room.
  • Maintains an accurate count of daily inventory and samples/pours used in Tasting Room.
  • Handles complaints, conflicts, questions and suggestions from Tasting Room employees.
  • Nurtures a positive working environment.
  • Implements innovative strategies to improve productivity and sales.
  • Seeks, suggests and supervises training and educational opportunities for the entire tasting room team.
  • Ensures compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Implements policies and protocols that will maintain future Tasting Room operations.
  • Is enthusiastic, welcoming and exhibits a positive attitude and willingness to assist where necessary.
  • Other duties as needed.

  • Ability to treat all associates and guests in a respectful manner.
  • Arrive at work prepared with excellent personal presentation standards and clean, pressed uniform and appropriate slacks, stockings and shoes.

  • Be hospitable, welcoming, and exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to assist where necessary.
