Responsibilities Program Manager – Stroke Program
The Program Manager coordinates activities of the Stroke Program by developing, implementing and coordinating activities through interdisciplinary collaboration and utilization of stroke guidelines and practice standards.
EssentialJob Duties
- Develops and promotes evidence‑based stroke education and training for physicians, staff, prehospital personnel, patients and families; plans and coordinates community outreach educational activities.
- Leads the Stroke Program Committee and participates in other hospital‑based committees; oversees policy development with periodic review and update of care guidelines to support the stroke program.
- Attends Code Stroke and serves as a clinical resource for the care and management of stroke patients.
- Follows up on patient care issues with physicians, staff, prehospital personnel, patients and families.
- Acts as a liaison between the hospital and outside entities through participation in regional meetings related to stroke.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving and planning skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization effectively to achieve outcomes, direct others and negotiate for desired results.
- Knowledge and skill in professional nursing theory and practice, including physiological principles involved in the care of acute and critical patients, principles of teaching and learning, research, and performance improvement.
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory compliance standards.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
- Experience in Stroke Program Coordination: planning, implementing and evaluating outcomes.
- Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of California.
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced National Certification preferred.
