R&D Scientist
Sirius Staffing is hiring an R&D Scientist for a contract opportunity in Temecula, CA. As an integral member of the innovation team, the R&D Scientist provides new product development and scale-up support to advance the organization's R&D mission. This position focuses on drug conjugate synthesis, characterization, assay development, and process scale-up.
Schedule:
On-site, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Responsibilities:
- Develop hands-on expertise in drug conjugate synthesis and characterization.
- Contribute to new drug delivery technology, assay development, and process scale-up to support reproducible and sustainable production methods.
- Maintain technical expertise in formulation characterization and assay development.
- Expand knowledge and experience in immunology and chemical biology.
- Collaborate with the internal innovation team to formulate project concepts.
- Validate technical prototypes and perform routine analytical tasks.
- Analyze experimental results and document all innovation activities.
- Support product launches and post-launch follow-up activities.
- Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders.
- Provide insights into drug discovery and virtual demonstrations.
- Maintain high standards for accuracy while following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all laboratory safety regulations.
Typical Daily Workflow:
- Plan experiments and laboratory logistics (approximately one hour each morning).
- Perform drug conjugation and other chemical reactions at the laboratory bench.
- Conduct purification processes during the afternoon.
- Characterize conjugates and perform cell studies.
- Experimental cycles typically span one to two weeks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biomaterials, Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
- 2-3 years of professional experience in an R&D environment.
- Expert-level proficiency with HPLC.
- Experience with: cell culture, cell and biochemical assays, flow cytometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), western blot.
- Ability to validate technical prototypes and perform routine analytical tasks/testing.
- Knowledge of drug conjugate synthesis, characterization, immunology, and chemical biology.
- Strong collaboration skills in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings and coordinate experimental cycles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with peptide/protein characterization and bioassays.
- Experience with peptide/protein chemistry and nano formulation development.
