Overview

Reporting to the Tasting Room Manager, the primary function of the Tasting Room & Food Server is to share their passion and enthusiasm for Doffo wine. The Tasting Room & Food Server creates a rich and lasting wine tasting experience for guests by guiding them through a pleasant and informative wine tasting and culinary experience. The position is also responsible for setting up and breaking down the Tasting Room and food service areas, including cleaning, stocking, and maintenance.

Tasting Room Server (Weekends Only)

This weekend position is for hours on Saturday and Sunday only. Reporting to the Tasting Room Manager, the primary function of the Tasting Room & Food Server is to share their passion and enthusiasm for Doffo wine. The Tasting Room & Food Server creates a rich and lasting wine tasting experience for guests by guiding them through a pleasant and informative wine tasting and culinary experience.

The position is also responsible for setting up and breaking down the Tasting Room and food service areas, including cleaning, stocking, and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Set the tone for the Tasting Room by exemplifying Doffo Winery core values and ensure you adhere to them during your workday.
  • Ensure guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service.
  • Educate guests on our wines, culinary offerings, vineyards, and family heritage.
  • Exhibit a cheerful outlook and willingness to assist in Tasting Room and food service area, when necessary.
  • Build genuine relationships with our guests through positive and memorable experiences.
  • Explain tasting and culinary options and be able to answer typical questions relating to the wine tasting experience.
  • Offer wine education in a non-intimidating way to increase guest knowledge and to sell wine.
  • Explain and sell the benefits of wine club memberships.
  • Encourage guests to buy retail merchandise and ring purchases in POS.
  • Wash used wine glasses, dry and polish before restocking. Stock wine, as needed.
  • Maintain a professional presentation in adherence to Company dress code standards.
  • When necessary, stock wines, ice, wine club membership applications.
  • Clean and polish bar, counters, shelves, equipment, and furniture.
  • Assist team in bussing and general cleaning, including, when necessary, restrooms.
  • Participate in opening and closing duties, following task list provided by Tasting Room management.
  • Be flexible and maintain a calm demeanor when the Tasting Room/food service area is busy.
  • Adhere to alcohol awareness standards to ensure guest safety.
Education/Experience/Abilities
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess exceptional guest service skills.
  • Previous wine industry, restaurant, or retail experience preferred.
  • A service-oriented mentality, with a desire to provide an exceptional experience to the guest is necessary, with the ability to learn and retain information specific to wines, winemaking, and wine club membership facts.
  • Detail-oriented and a mantra to expect the best in yourself and others.
  • Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and accomplish a wide variety of tasks.
  • Enthusiastic team player outlook and "can do" mindset.
  • Able to stand on your feet for the majority of the day.
  • Must be able to lift and routinely carry items up to 25 lbs.
  • Maintain a professional personal presentation.
  • Be highly initiative-taking, independent, and able to take direction from management.
  • Embrace a commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Conduct other duties that may be assigned by management.
