Cantina Server - Requisition

General Summary

1882 Cantina Servers are Pechanga’s ambassadors of guest service within each of the restaurants. They customize service for each guest to create a memorable dining experience. They facilitate those dining experiences with menu, bar, and wine knowledge, service etiquette, and sales ability. The servers’ contribution to the organization is the moment-to-moment service with guests, providing amiable and personable contact for every table and representing four‑diamond service at Pechanga Resort Casino (PRC).

Their work extends to the bottom line by cultivating professional relationships with clientele, approaching each table as a business transaction, selling products and services available in the restaurant, and understanding guests’ expectations to pair them with the appropriate resort products, dishes, or wines.

All team members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Guest Service by delivering and maintaining the quality standards established by Pechanga Resort Casino.

• Greeting tables upon arrival with a warm and personable approach.
• Selling menu items by being specific, pairing items that complement each other and the guest’s tastes.
• Being an ambassador of the guest by asking specific questions and tailoring service to their expectations.
• Taking guests’ orders accurately and in a timely manner, consistent with the restaurant’s steps of service, and delivering food orders to each table.
• Taking and delivering beverage orders for each table.
• Presetting tables for service with items that guests may need to enjoy their meal.
• Clearing all soiled china, glass, or silverware throughout guests’ dining experience.
• Being knowledgeable about all menu items (food, beverage, wine).
• Demonstrating a working knowledge of proper service etiquette with every guest.
• Keeping an accurate running check of guests’ orders and presenting a final bill, processing all payments according to PRC cash‑handling procedures.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

The 1882 Cantina Server has no supervisory responsibilities. The team member is responsible for protecting the assets of PRC.

A high school diploma or GED is required. At least six months of experience is preferred.

This position requires the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; and to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other employees.

This position requires the ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. It also requires the ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.

This position requires the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Must be able to qualify for and maintain a Class A gaming license.
• TIPS certification.
• Food Handler’s Card.

• Ability to perform tray service; many dinner houses require tray service. Must be able to load, carry, and unload trays safely.
• Ability to take direction well and without being offended.
• Multitasking and time management; self‑paced service with efficient use of time between tables.
• Fluent in English speaking, writing, and comprehension skills.
• Personable demeanor.
• Knowledgeable about the menu, restaurant offerings, and resort amenities.

Other service‑related classes required of the service team within the first ninety days of employment will be taken through Pechanga University.
