We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals for seasonal and year‑round, part‑time, non‑benefited positions that work approximately 20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours per fiscal year. Candidates must be able to work part‑time shifts Monday through Thursday between 6:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The summer aquatics program runs from June 1, 2026 through August 6, 2026.
Work hours and schedules vary according to program and participant needs.
Lifeguards are responsible for supervising the swimming pool and pool deck, enforcing regulations, performing rescues, and performing minor janitorial and pool maintenance as needed.
Lifeguards must be at least 16 years old and either possess the following certificate or be able to successfully complete the City provided training for the following:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding
Instructor Guards are responsible for providing swim instruction, supervising the pool, enforcing regulations, performing rescues, and performing minor janitorial and pool maintenance as needed.
Instructor Guards must be at least 16 years old and either possess the following certificates or be able to successfully complete the City provided training for the following:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Candidates are encouraged to submit applicable certificates as an attachment with their online application. Candidates who do not submit certificates with their application must provide the required certificates prior to employment. The City will be offering the following classes at no cost to candidates receiving a conditional job offer:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding (including Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED) on May 9th and 10th from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- Water Safety Instructor on May 16th and 17th from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Mandatory Community Services Employee In‑Service Training on May 28th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- All Aquatics Employee In‑Service Training on May 31st from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
If unable to attend these classes, candidates are responsible for obtaining the proper certification(s). Certificates must be issued by The American Red Cross. Knowledge ofProper aquatic safety; development and monitoring of swimming programs and lessons; CPR; first aid; and customer service techniques and principles.
Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Incumbents in this classification speak clearly, hear normal conversation, stand, walk, sit and see small details. Incumbents must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs, swim 250 yards continuously, and tread water for two minutes.
