Location:
Tempe, AZ
Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting Mint Cannabis's finance operations by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. This position works closely with the Senior Accountant and Controller to assist with general ledger activity, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated industry.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update accounting records, files, and documentation.
- Process and post accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Record daily retail and wholesale sales activity.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Assist with budget monitoring and expense reporting.
- Support monthly and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare documents for internal and external audits.
- Assist with tax payments, returns, and compliance reporting.
- Apply new accounting policies and ensure adherence to financial regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Accountant to improve financial systems and workflows.
- Provide general support to the finance department as needed.

- 1+ year of accounting experience with an accounting degree OR 3+ years of experience without a degree.
- Quick Books experience required; familiarity with other accounting software is a plus.
- Solid understanding of core accounting concepts and GAAP principles.
- Experience in a retail or inventory-heavy industry preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Proactive, resourceful, and able to work independently.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and eligible to work in the cannabis industry.
Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally for document storage or retrieval.
- Office-based role with occasional remote meetings or collaboration across departments.
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
