Qwaltec has an immediate opening for a full-time Accountant. The Accountant reports to the Controller and supports the company's day-to-day accounting operations, financial accuracy, and compliance in a government contracting environment. We are seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in government contract accounting, transactional accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and process discipline. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines while supporting accurate financial data, internal controls, and effective cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash activity, general ledger processing, and journal entries.

Execute recurring accounting processes and transaction workflows, including invoice and payment processing, customer receipts, account maintenance, and related support activities.

Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, account analysis, and review of financial activity in accordance with GAAP, CAS, and company procedures.

Prepare and support financial reports, schedules, reconciliations, budgets, and analyses for management decision-making, internal review, and external reporting requirements.

Maintain accounting systems, data integrity, approval workflows, and related documentation to support accurate financial records and effective process controls.

Support payroll administration, tax compliance, business registrations, and submission of indirect provisional and final rates to the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA).

Ensure accurate rates are applied to budgets, proposals, and cost allocation, and support the accurate preparation of cost proposals.

Develop, document, and maintain internal controls, standard procedures, and desk guides to promote consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Provide financial oversight of contracts by monitoring funding, supporting Limitation of Funds notifications, and participating in regular financial reviews with the Contracts Manager.

Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the accounting and finance function.

Requirements:

Five to eight years of relevant accounting experience in the government contracting industry.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting, GAAP, government contracting, and cost accounting principles, including working knowledge of DCAA, FAR, and DFARS requirements.

Knowledge of FAR Part 31 cost principles and the ability to prepare incurred cost submissions and other required contract-related financial reports.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties, including auditors, advisors, and government customer representatives.

Strong organizational, time management, and follow-through skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work performed.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA and/or MBA preferred.

Experience with Unanet is preferred.
