Director Of Accounting
The Director of Accounting will lead an accounting management team, directly supervise two Controllers that oversee a staff of 20 accountants, and partner closely with the SVP of Financial Operations on strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and departmental direction. This is far more than a traditional "close the books" accounting role. The company is looking for someone who can:
- Lead and develop high-performing accounting teams
- Drive accountability, operational efficiency, and process improvement
- Standardize workflows and improve reporting through data and analytics
- Navigate complex financial conversations with boards and leadership teams
- Serve as a technical accounting resource across the organization
- Help scale systems, controls, reporting, and accounting operations
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, IT, training, and business development teams
Additional areas of responsibility include:
- Oversight of monthly financial reporting and reviews
- Managing complex multi-entity accounting environments
- Supporting audits, internal controls, and SSAE-18 / SOC compliance
- Leading accounting integrations for acquisitions
- Developing KPIs, dashboards, and departmental metrics
- Driving technology enhancements and accounting system improvements
- Coaching and mentoring Controllers and accounting staff
Ideal background:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of accounting leadership experience
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
- Advanced Excel skills including Power Query, macros, pivot tables, and large data analysis
- Experience leading teams
- CPA preferred
