About the role

CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our Client Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) in our Phoenix, AZ location. This role will support our growing Family Office practice.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions.
  • Experience dealing with our growing Family Office Practice servicing high net worth individuals and families.
  • Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
  • Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process.
  • Adhere to the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers.
  • Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable.
  • Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client’s leadership.
  • Develop budgets, analyze variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Review payroll and payroll tax compliance.
Qualifications
  • A BS degree in accounting or related field required.
  • 6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent required.
  • Accounting back office experience required.
  • Relevant experience with high net worth individuals, multiple entity and personal business management preferred.
  • Experience with trusts highly preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems.
  • Quick Books experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to travel to local client sites.
