Job SummaryWe are seeking a Payroll Operations Specialist to join a high-volume Payroll Operations team within the Finance organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of multi-state employee payroll while maintaining compliance with company policies, government regulations, SOX requirements, and labor agreements. The ideal candidate has strong payroll processing experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Process high-volume, multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Review, validate, and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy before processing.
- Apply company policies, payroll regulations, tax requirements, and compliance standards throughout the payroll process.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll information.
- Review payroll audit reports, identify discrepancies, and coordinate necessary corrections.
- Research and resolve employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and union payroll requirements where applicable.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation while ensuring compliance with SOX controls.
- Assist with payroll system testing, process improvements, and special projects.
- Document and update payroll procedures and workflows.
- Analyze payroll processes and recommend operational improvements to increase efficiency.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and macros when needed, to analyze and reconcile large datasets.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment.
- Experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large amounts of payroll data.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience using SAP Payroll or similar enterprise payroll systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience supporting large enterprise organizations.
- Knowledge of union payroll processing and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
- Experience working within SOX-compliant payroll environments.
