Project Accountant

We've partnered with a high-growth construction company seeking an experienced Project Accountant to play a key role on its expanding accounting team. This highly visible position will help drive the financial performance of active projects by partnering closely with accounting, project managers, and operational leaders to strengthen reporting, resolve issues, and keep projects financially on track.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on construction accounting experience, advanced expertise in work-in-progress reporting, and a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.

• Prepare and analyze work-in-progress schedules.
• Track project costs, billings, revenue, and profitability.
• Review job-cost activity and research financial variances.
• Partner with project and operational teams to maintain accurate financial information.
• Support monthly close, reconciliations, and management reporting.
• Review project-related invoices and supporting documentation.
• Identify potential billing, cost, and reporting issues.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned projects.
• Assist with process improvements and accounting-system initiatives.
• Support audits and special projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Previous experience in construction or project-based accounting.
• Strong understanding of work-in-progress accounting.
• Experience with job costing and project financial reporting.
  
  Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate across departments.
• Ability to work onsite in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

• Experience with a modern cloud-based accounting or ERP platform.
• Experience participating in a financial-system implementation.
• Familiarity with small-to-middle-market accounting environments.
