Summary

SRP is seeking a motivated College Intern to support our teams while gaining hands‑on experience in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real‑world projects that support SRP’s commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful work, and develop technical and professional skills relevant to their field of study.

The role is designed to foster learning, teamwork, and innovation while providing exposure to SRP’s operations and culture. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are eager to learn, grow, and make an impact while exploring a future career with SRP.

The Municipal Services Intern provides administrative and project coordination support to the Joint Use team, assisting with the lifecycle management of Joint Use jobs from creation through closeout. This role is ideal for students interested in gaining exposure to utility operations, distribution design, and infrastructure coordination.

The intern will primarily support work management activities using systems such as WAM/Maximo, Outlook, and ECM, while developing a foundational understanding of Joint Use, distribution electrical design, and basic structural considerations such as pole loading and familiarity with the equipment installed on poles.

The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.

  • Open, update, and close Joint Use jobs in Work and Asset Management (WAM) systems.
  • Support job lifecycle tracking including intake, coordination, and closeout activities.
  • Utilize WAM, Outlook and ECM to manage communications, documentation, and recordkeeping.
  • Assist with organizing and prioritizing incoming workloads and assignments.
  • Coordinate with internal teams including engineering, inspection, and construction groups.
  • Enter and validate basic project data to support tracking and reporting accuracy.
  • Review construction plans at a high level to identify scope of work (training provided).
  • Support administrative functions related to Joint Use operations.
  • Gain exposure to distribution electrical design concepts and structural pole loading considerations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team operations.
Education

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

Experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Interest in utilities, infrastructure, project management, or engineering‑related fields.
  • Analytical mindset with a willingness to learn technical concepts.
