We are looking for a Program Aide (PRN) who is highly flexible, organized, driven, and detail-oriented, with the ability to quickly pivot between providing support and tasks. As an essential Program Aide (PRN), you will work closely with the team, under administrative direction, and industry partners to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of University Testing and Scanning Services. This involves providing administrative support and administering and actively proctoring exams. You will engage with a broad range of clients, including testing candidates, students, faculty, staff and partners, requiring you to deliver excellent customer service with a service-centric approach.
Success in this role requires the flexibility to perform both general and complex duties, the ability to carefully follow nuanced instructions, and strong technical, administrative and organizational skills.
This is an in-person, on-site, part-time position located in Tempe, Arizona, with a variable schedule of up to 15 hours per week. Weekly hours may range from 0 to 15 hours based on operational needs, and a minimum number of hours is not guaranteed. Due to testing security requirements, remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available.
Essential Duties:- Provide flexible, responsive, and high-quality customer service students, faculty, staff and community members.
- Professionally correspond with clients in-person, via email and by phone. Refer to appropriate departments as needed.
- Follow process steps as outlined in standard operating procedures; demonstrate attention to detail.
- Assist program leaders in submitting requests, preparing materials and provide administrative support utilizing special software, technical data and equipment.
- Execute all phases of Testing Services operations in strict compliance with university and vendor rules to maintain exam integrity.
- This includes conducting exam preparations; review manuals and procedures; administer exams (paper and computer-based); admit test takers, verify IDs, and seat candidates; actively proctor and quietly circulate inside the testing room; monitor for test security breaches; address, document, and report violations/irregularities; and complete post-exam procedures.
- Maintain sustained focus and consistent, active monitoring during exam periods.
Qualifications:
- Evidence of effective communication.
- Experience providing groups with instructions, reading scripts aloud, and directing groups.
- Demonstrated ability to calmly provide detailed multi-step instructions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to strict guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Ability to exercise discretion with highly sensitive and confidential data.
- Exam proctoring experience is a plus but is not required.
- Experience troubleshooting computer technical issues and demonstrated ability to navigate multiple platforms quickly.
- Flexibility and ability to quickly pivot between priorities.
- Comfortable handling multiple and frequent interruptions.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Evidence of effective customer service skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain sustained focus and consistent, active monitoring during exam periods.
- Experience with data entry, MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), event management databases, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic math.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software and adapt to new procedures; open and willingness to learn.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule with shift times that vary weekly, strictly within office hours.
- Ability to quickly change priorities and tasks, which may include and/or are subject to frequent interruptions and resolution of conflict(s).
Working Environment:

Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm; employee scheduled hours vary weekly by operation needs. - Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office, classroom or conference room (on campus and off-site) setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work.
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Actively monitor testing candidates for long periods of time which includes maintaining sustained focus on the exam session.
