The Opportunity

Climavision is looking for a meteorologist to work alongside our existing meteorologists and atmospheric scientists, delivering real‑time, client‑facing weather intelligence and forecasting in support of our energy, commodities, and weather‑sensitive customer base. As a Meteorologist on the Meteorology Solutions Team, you'll monitor evolving weather patterns, produce timely forecasts and briefings, and serve as a trusted weather advisor to clients and internal teams alike.

You'll help refine met desk operating procedures, forecast workflows, and client engagement standards as we scale the team. You'll work closely with Product, Sales, and Customer Success teams, to translate complex meteorological data into actionable insights for utilities, traders, risk managers, and other weather‑sensitive decision‑makers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor weather patterns and model guidance to produce accurate, timely forecasts keeping client impacts across the utilities, energy, and commodities sectors in mind.
  • Serve as a trusted weather advisor, translating complex meteorological data, model output, and forecast uncertainty into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Deliver forecast briefings, severe weather alerts, and ad‑hoc analysis to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to support client onboarding, product demos, and ongoing forecast consultations.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to inform the development of forecasting tools, data products, and workflows.
  • Support Meteorology Solutions operating procedures, escalation protocols, and quality standards.
  • Track forecast performance and verification metrics to continuously improve forecast accuracy and client value.
  • Stay current on emerging weather models, data sources (radar, NWP, satellite), and forecasting techniques relevant to client industries.
  • Review, validate, and refine AI forecasting tools and guidance products, applying meteorological expertise and quality control.
  • This role requires rotational on‑call coverage, including overnights, weekends, and holidays and will scale to around‑the‑clock monitoring during significant weather events impacting clients. Outside of active, severe weather, will vary based on client needs and desk staffing levels.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Combined 5‑7 years of experience in operational forecasting or a client‑facing meteorology role with 2‑3 years of that experience within an operational utility Met Desk, required.
  • Strong understanding of meteorological data, weather patterns, and their practical applications in utilities.
  • Experience with radar, NWP, AI, or geospatial weather data products.
  • Experience translating complex weather data and model guidance into actionable insights for non‑technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with meteorological data distributed via API, GRIB, and ESRI outputs.
  • Knowledge of utilities, energy markets, energy trading, and renewable power forecasting.
  • Experience working with, supervising, and validating AI/ML output, applying meteorological judgement and quality control.
  • Comfort working in an agile, fast‑paced, high‑growth startup environment.
  • Strong client‑facing communication and analytic skills, with a track record of presenting weather data, forecasts, and analysis clearly and confidently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
We are especially excited to meet candidates with any of the following backgrounds or domain expertise, but are not required
  • Experience supporting trading desks, commodities, risk management teams, or other time‑sensitive, client‑facing forecasting functions outside of utilities, a plus.
  • Exposure to customers in energy, utilities, commodities, insurance, or financial trading markets.
