Position Summary
The Director, PBM Contract Management applies complex financial, contractual, and business strategies to large, high-impact agreements negotiated between CVS Health and its PBM clients. This interdisciplinary leadership role plays a critical part within the broader Client and Finance organization.
Key Responsibilities- Support health plan client retention, influence operational execution to ensure negotiated intent is achieved, mitigate financial and relationship risks, facilitate strategic discussions with health plan clients and consultants, and negotiate contracts that accurately memorialize agreed‑upon terms and conditions.
- Contract Execution & Governance:
Build and lead a specialized team to execute contract management obligations; oversee the full contract lifecycle; ensure proper documentation, handoff, and governance processes; track status, performance, and compliance. - Contract Strategy & Negotiation:
Lead development and execution of contract strategies across clients, vendors, and providers; negotiate complex terms; drive strategic partnerships with Sales, Underwriting, Legal, Finance, Proposals, and Consultant Relations; enhance processes through best practices. - Leadership
Competencies:
Foster a process‑driven culture, lead cross‑functional efforts, simplify complex constructs, communicate with senior leadership, maintain relationships with key partners, serve as escalation point for complex issues. - Financial &
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate contractual risk; ensure legal compliance; manage budgeting and forecasting tied to contract outcomes; maintain regulatory knowledge; resolve process gaps.
- Organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and adapt to challenging timelines.
- Assertive self‑starter with the ability to make decisions independently.
- Strategic thinker with strong financial acumen.
- Proficient in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments.
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate across all levels.
- Strong ability to influence and negotiate internal and external cross‑functional business issues.
- 10+ years of experience with contract/financial negotiation and PBM knowledge.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
Base annual salary: $ – $. Eligible for bonus, commission, and short‑term incentive programs, plus an equity award target.
