College interns are eligible to receive $1000 per calendar year
Resource Management involves the strategic planning,allocationandutilizationof various resources todeliver reliable,affordableand sustainable power to SRP customers. Effective resource managementensureswe havesufficientresourcestotransition from fossil fuel energy torenewableresources and other lower carbon emittingsourcesto serve Arizona for generations to come. This organizationfocusesonthelong-term planning of the power system to 2035 and beyond.
There are four summer internshippositionswithin Resource Management. The candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university,inanundergraduateorgraduateprogram,preferably in analytics, economics or engineering related curriculum. The candidate should betaking coursework to develop the skills relevant for this position.
The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.
The candidate(s) chosen will support one of the three areas below:
Integrated Planning- Supports the Integrated Planning department with projects associated with the Integrated System Plan and/or other integrated planning studies
- Gathers market intelligence research around specific questions as requested by senior leadership and staff
- Supports the team by gathering, organizing and analyzing data to inform business decisions related to long-term planning
- Creates data visualizations and/or dashboards for presentations, reports or projects
- Performs research related to electricity demand in support of SRP’s corporate energy forecast utilizing market trend analysis and utilizing various software and tools
- Projects may include programming, data mining, model development, visualizations, and reporting/presenting findings
- Collects and analyzes data associated with resource performance including renewable generation performance, carbon/water intensity, and battery metrics. Develop tools to share information across SRP
- Creates dashboards and data visualizations to clearly communicate findings and insights from large datasets to non-technical stakeholders
- Prepare and present reports on resource performance, including renewable generation, carbon/water intensity, battery metrics, and system variability
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
