Overview
Kitchell is seeking to hire a dynamic and energetic Senior Field Engineer with commercial project experience to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.
The Senior Field Engineer supports field supervision in the coordination of Trade Partners, field quality assurance and site safety plans. Additional responsibilities will include verification that work conforms to our contract documents and other specific assignments as determined by the Project Superintendent.
Duties & Responsibilities- Assist in the supervision and coordination of field forces as directed by the Project Superintendent.
- Participate in Trade Partner weekly meetings including coordination and follow-up with commitments made regarding Trade Partner coordination.
- Prepare and distribute Project Daily Reports including crew sizes and detailed descriptions of work progress by area/floor for each Trade Partner as directed by the Project Superintendent.
- Review and assist in checking shop drawings for field coordination issues and coordinate the field distribution and utilization of approved shop drawings by crews in the field.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with all architects, engineers and inspectors assigned to the project.
- Prepare actual start and completion dates for work in progress and participate in the monthly Project Schedule updates with the job team.
- Coordinate with the project team to ensure that equipment and long lead materials arrive on the project on time.
- Participate in the weekly review of the Project Expediting Log with the Project Superintendent.
- Assist the Project Superintendent with site logistics coordination as requested.
- Coordinate and assist the Project Superintendent with Trade Partner pre-installation meetings, construction of mock-ups and Trade Partner site orientation issues.
- Submit field coordination/conflict issues to the Project Superintendent for direction regarding resolution or submittal in a Request for Information (RFI).
- Administer the site compliance with all storm water prevention and fugitive dust regulations and prevention measures as directed by the Project Superintendent.
- Verify that building control points, elevations and layout is in conformance with the Contract Documents as directed by the Project Superintendent.
- Perform building layout if directed by the Project Superintendent.
- Maintain a constant awareness of developing construction technology and advances in the field that could improve our services to our clients.
- Attend all scheduled training sessions as required to advance you in Field Supervision and management skills.
- Support the Project Superintendent in administration and documentation required for the Quality Assurance Program as required and established for the project.
- Participate in the Kitchell Quality Assurance Best Practices/Lessons Learned process improvement on assigned projects.
- Assist with the management of KCI field teams.
- Assist with commissioning activities.
- 3+ years of field experience with a Associates or Bachelors Degree OR 6 years of experience without a degree.
- OSHA 30 certification
- Knowledge of all elements of commercial construction and understanding of skilled trades.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently inspects the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions while wearing personal protective equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
- The employee is subject to both environmental conditions due to work activities occurring both inside and outside.
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours.
- Must be able and willing to work shift work and or off hour work.
- Must be willing and able to work on holidays as required.
- Travel may be required up to 50% of the time.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Record with no restrictions or suspensions.
- Ability to drive a motorized vehicle.
