Role Summary
The Safety Specialist 1 will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects. The position will conduct safety inspections, identify and document hazardous conditions, coordinate abatement, and write reports. All activities support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.

- Coordinates and implements the field safety program for routine construction projects.
- Conducts regular walk‑through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
- Performs safety audits on assigned projects, identifying, documenting, and recommending abatement of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions. Utilizes internal safety management systems to document findings and track abatement techniques and closure.
- Conducts project‑specific new hire orientation and oversees drug and alcohol policy compliance.
- Monitors the implementation of prime contractor and/or subcontractor safety programs.
- Attends project pre‑planning, progress, and other relevant meetings to discuss safety matters.
- Supports field leadership in implementing safety‑specific meetings, committees, and activities, and chairs the project safety committee.
- Assists in investigating project‑related accidents. Confers with supervisor to determine root cause and discuss recommendations for process changes to eliminate recurrence.
- Coordinates with injured employees and clinics to ensure treatment and timely return to work; compiles progress summary reports for supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
- Ability to build relationships with team members that transcend a project.
- Proficiency in required construction technology.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
- Bachelor’s degree in a safety and health‑related field (Preferred).
- In lieu of the above, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- 0–2 years construction or related experience (Required).
