Plumbing Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Project Manager to lead commercial and industrial plumbing projects from pre-construction through closeout. The ideal candidate will plan and coordinate plumbing, sanitary, storm, water, gas and process piping installations, manage budgets and schedules, oversee onsite teams and subcontractors, ensure regulatory compliance and safety, and serve as the primary client contact to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, scheduling and coordination for commercial and industrial plumbing projects, including sanitary, water, storm and process piping systems.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, change orders and financial reporting to ensure projects meet profit and margin targets.
  • Supervise and coordinate onsite installation activities, including plumbing, gas piping and specialty systems; assign work, monitor progress and enforce quality standards.
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications and shop drawings; coordinate revisions and ensure installations meet design intent and code requirements.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors: procure materials, negotiate contracts, schedule deliveries and ensure timely performance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety policies and regulatory requirements (local plumbing codes, IPC, NFPA, OSHA); conduct safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Serve as primary client and stakeholder liaison: provide regular status updates, address requests for information (RFIs), resolve issues and maintain positive relationships.
  • Oversee commissioning, testing and start-up of plumbing and piping systems; verify documentation, warranties and as-built drawings during project closeout.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures; inspect workmanship and materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Mentor and develop project staff and field teams; enforce company standards and best practices for installation and site management.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical diploma or equivalent trade background in plumbing, mechanical or construction management;
    Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred; relevant trade certifications and demonstrated field experience in plumbing installation and supervision.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience managing commercial and industrial plumbing projects, including sanitary, storm, water, gas piping and process piping systems.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations and standards (IPC, NFPA, local codes) and experience coordinating code compliance and inspections.
  • Proven ability to prepare estimates, manage budgets and control project costs; experience with change order management and contract administration.
  • Experience supervising crews and subcontractors, with strong leadership, conflict resolution and team development skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs and technical drawings and to produce or review shop drawings.
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software (Procore, MS Project, Plan Grid or similar) and Microsoft Office.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training and a demonstrated commitment to jobsite safety.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and client-facing skills; valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Preferred: certifications such as PMP, LEED, or specialized training in gas piping, welding or process piping systems. Experience with commercial and industrial installation environments highly desired.
