Job Summary
Industrial Power Solutions, a Sundt Company, is seeking a highly motivated Project Cost Analyst to join our growing team.
This is not a general accounting or finance position. We are seeking candidates with a strong understanding of electrical construction, including electrical materials, equipment, labor, and installation practices. Knowledge of electrical components, material procurement, takeoffs, and construction workflows is essential to accurately analyze project costs and support field operations.
The Project Cost Analyst will play a critical role in managing project financial performance by tracking project costs, forecasting financial outcomes, analyzing cost trends, and providing actionable insights to project teams. This individual will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Procurement, Accounting, and Project Controls to help ensure projects remain on budget and financially successful.
Candidates with experience in industrial or commercial electrical construction, estimating, project engineering, field supervision, electricians with a minimum of 4 years that want to transition to office are also prime candidates.
Requirements- Maintain positive working relationships with project teams, operations, accounting, subcontractors, and clients.
- Produce accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and project financial analysis.
- Develop and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and financial tracking tools.
- Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect costs against project budgets.
- Analyze productivity and cost trends to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Support monthly forecasting and estimate‑at‑completion reporting.
- Track and evaluate change orders and their impact on project budgets.
- Review committed costs, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and invoices.
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for project leadership and executive management.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve financial performance.
- Support project closeout activities and final cost reconciliation.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction cost control, project controls, project engineering, estimating, accounting, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting large construction, industrial, electrical, or data center projects preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Understanding of project budgets, forecasting, change management, and cost reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data and communicate findings effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced construction environment.

Physical Requirements- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally walk active construction sites.
- Ability to climb stairs and navigate construction environments when required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment when visiting project sites.
