Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager is an entry‑level project management position and is expected to learn and develop competency in the essential duties and responsibilities. The APM provides administrative and construction support for the Project Management team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, and meeting minutes.
  • Oversee project activities assigned by the Project Manager, including planning, coordinating, resolving problem areas, and ensuring all company/project policies, procedures, and standards are maintained.
  • Maintain change orders, submittals, and document (drawing) control logs.
  • Prepare required logs and other project documentation for construction meetings.
  • Ensure contract submittals are accurate and timely.
  • Create and issue subcontractor contracts.
  • Assemble and deliver owner and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure the project quality control plan is followed.
  • Obtain correct documentation and drawings for owner and maintenance manuals from subcontractors.
  • Keep the warranty log up to date.
  • Attend company/project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and provide project management support.
  • Cooperate with and technically assist field personnel in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Monitor other contractors’ activities and progress.
  • Create job information sheets and establish job files.
  • Prepare price change orders, project reports, and documentation.
  • Work with payroll to ensure accurate payroll information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
  • Tactful, professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively with managers, employees, vendors, and others.
  • Strong organizational, record‑keeping, and follow‑up skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization and time‑management skills.
  • Identify and meet customers’ expectations and requirements.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
    Oracle preferred.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field; or a combination of training, education, and relevant work experience that is equivalent. Minimum 1 year of experience in a construction‑related role.

Travel

Up to 25%.

Working Conditions

General work environment – this position is performed primarily on active construction sites. Activity includes sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is typically low to medium. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
