Heavy Equipment Operator

• Safely and efficiently operate heavy mobile equipment including dozers, motor graders, excavators, backhoes, compaction equipment, scrapers, and wheel loaders
• Excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, and other materials
• Perform road building, fine grading, finishing, sloping, banking, back filling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, stockpiling, road surface maintenance, road berm construction and maintenance, truck loading, and trenching
• Operate equipment according to company safety policies and procedures
• Ensure equipment operation stays within capabilities and limitations
• Perform required safety inspections and complete documentation
• Maintain a clean and safe job site
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Prior experience operating heavy equipment in construction environment
• Knowledge of earthwork, road and highway construction, preferred
• Ability to operate equipment within designated area with attention to detail
• Ability to work day, swing, and night shifts, occasionally extended hours
• Ability to work in constant exposure to outside elements, in all weather conditions
• Ability to work in a safety-sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment
• Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces
• Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination
• Ability to grasp, assemble, and lift objects; stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces; squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down
• Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more
• Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives
• Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct daily

Demonstrates expertise in operating heavy mobile equipment such as Dozers, Excavators, and Backhoes while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean job site. Possesses strong physical dexterity and stamina to perform various construction tasks in diverse weather conditions.
