Journalist​/Editorial Writer Internship

Phoenix / NYC (Remote considered for exceptional candidates)

Definitive is a house music events and media brand operating across Arizona and New York. We throw events, build artists, and document the culture - through our editorial platform, our Digs interview series, and a growing presence in some of the best rooms in the country. We don't do generic. Everything we put out has a point of view.

We're looking for a writer who wants to cover house music in every form: artist interviews, label deep-dives, behind-the-scenes looks at what it actually takes to throw an event, who's breaking out right now, the stuff most outlets don't bother digging into. If you love this world and can write about it with real voice, we want to talk to you.

• Write and publish one piece per week, minimum
• Interview artists, labels, and industry figures across the house music scene
• Cover events, trends, and the people shaping the underground right now
• Work directly with our Lead Editor and Social Media Manager to bring pieces to life and get them in front of the right audience on our website and across social media channels

• You've published work before - clips, portfolio, something we can read. This isn't a role where we're teaching you how to write.
• You genuinely know and love house music, not just casually
• Based in Phoenix or NYC preferred, since you'll be doing in-person interviews when it makes sense, exceptional remote candidates will still be considered
• Self-directed. We'll point you in the right direction, we won't hand-hold

• School credit (this is an unpaid internship)
• Direct mentorship from the founders and creative team
• Real responsibility from day one - this isn't a "make coffee and watch" internship
• Portfolio-worthy work across a brand with real presence in multiple markets
