Dental Front Office /Patient Coordinator

Position Overview

We are looking for a friendly, organized, and experienced Dental Front Office / Patient Coordinator to join our dental team. The ideal candidate is confident working with patients, knowledgeable about dental insurance, and experienced with Dentrix dental practice management software.

This position plays an important role in creating a positive patient experience while keeping the front office running efficiently and supporting the clinical team.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients warmly and provide excellent customer service
  • Answer phones, respond to patient questions, and manage patient communications
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Maintain an organized and accurate appointment schedule
  • Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Understand and explain dental insurance coverage, deductibles, annual maximums, waiting periods, and limitations to patients
  • Obtain insurance estimates and assist with treatment cost estimates
  • Collect patient payments and discuss financial arrangements when appropriate
  • Present treatment plans and help patients understand their financial responsibilities
  • Coordinate treatment scheduling and follow up with patients who have unscheduled treatment
  • Understand how to navigate patient ledgers and know where balances and credits originate
  • Use Dentrix for scheduling, patient records, treatment plans, billing, insurance, and payment posting
  • Communicate effectively with doctors, hygienists, dental assistants, and other team members
  • Help maintain a professional, positive, and welcoming office environment
  • Follow office policies and HIPAA/privacy requirements
Qualifications
  • Previous dental front office experience required
  • Dental insurance experience required
  • Dentrix experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology and common dental procedures
  • Experience with dental insurance verification, claims, and insurance follow-up
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy dental office
  • Professional, friendly, and positive attitude
  • Comfortable discussing treatment costs and financial arrangements with patients
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to work well as part of a team
Preferred Experience
  • 2+ years of dental front office experience
  • Dentrix experience
  • Experience with PPO and fee-for-service dental offices
  • Experience with treatment coordination and case acceptance
