Job Description: The Paid Student Teacher is a temporary position. Incumbents serve as contributing staff members on an identified school learning team during the duration of their semester and/or yearlong university student teaching and are expected to follow the certified teacher work calendar. A Paid Student Teacher may take on various assigned instructional processes and content roles (such as lesson planning, large-group instruction, small-group instruction, individual interventions, data analysis, grading, assisting with digital instruction, subject specialization, and non-instructional tasks).

The Paid Student Teacher; is provided with instructional methods and tools; develops expertise in various areas of instruction; contributes ideas for ongoing improvement; and works collaboratively with the school team to review student progress and change instruction to ensure high-progress learning for every child. The Paid Student Teacher is accountable to the site identified Mentor Teacher(s) for contributions to the learning outcomes of students.

Minimum Qualifications: In good standing in university teacher preparation program and eligible to begin student teaching Demonstrated effectiveness working with people who have differing cultural backgrounds and/or personal characteristics, including race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or economic differences.

Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid IVP Level One AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
