Job DescriptionThe Assistant Director for Career Readiness for the Tempe campus is a leadership position responsible for facilitating and executing the strategic vision for students’ career and professional development. The Assistant Director position will be a vital leader; building and maintaining relationships with academic and student services units aimed at tailoring career resources and support to the unique career needs for students at the Tempe location, as well as students in partner academic colleges at various locations.
This position will be responsible for leading strategy, as well as a team in a fast‑paced, student‑centered, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be an organized self‑starter who thrives on building innovative new relationships with staff and leadership across the university. The candidate will have strong relationship building abilities, be a sophisticated communicator and have direct experience recommending and implementing programs and services along with an ability to connect with students, staff, faculty, employers, and community partners.
This position will report directly to the Associate Director of Career Readiness. In active collaboration with Career Services leadership across multiple campuses, the Assistant Director will:
- Plan, develop and assist with directing operational and administrative activities of Career Services.
- Supervise and lead a diverse staff team composed of professional and student staff.
- Work closely with academic schools and departments, student professional organizations, community and industry partners, alumni and other entities that facilitate customized student career development, internship preparation, job search and graduate/professional school preparation for ASU students.

- Regularly record and report on data related to assigned college appointments, event participation, student career engagement, employer recruiting and hiring, and career outcomes.
- Assist in the preparation of departmental activity reports and budget management.
- Support and promote the goals of the University, Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS), and Career Services.
- Contribute to the strategic vision and long‑term planning for career readiness at the Tempe campus, aligning initiatives with institutional priorities, workforce needs, and student success outcomes.
- Use data, assessment, and student outcomes to inform decision‑making, evaluate program effectiveness, and continuously improve career readiness initiatives and faculty partnerships.
