Job Summary

This Student Services Specialist position is located at the Maricopa Community College District Office in Tempe, Arizona. If you have a passion for helping others improve their lives through education by breaking down barriers and helping them navigate higher education, this role is for you. The Student Services Specialist provides comprehensive student support, specializing in enrollment services and financial aid, in the Maricopa Contact Center.

The position works collaboratively with a team to provide remote customer service and communications for a diverse population of students and campus admission, records, and registration, and financial aid representatives. The position provides the highest level of customer service via phone, email, chat, text, and other communication channels.

The Student Services Specialist will be trained and expected to provide one‑stop enrollment student support—admissions, registration, financial aid, placement, student billing, recruitment, and other enrollment processes—via inbound and outbound phone calls for all ten Maricopa Community Colleges and the District Office. The position utilizes strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills and leverages multiple technology systems to efficiently help students navigate all aspects of the enrollment and financial aid processes.

The position reports to a manager in the Maricopa Student Support Center.

Essential Functions

60% – Provides comprehensive student support, specializing in enrollment services and financial aid via phone, email, chat, text, and other modes to prospective and current students.

20% – Collects, inputs, modifies, and verifies student information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Student Information System (SIS), and other systems.

10% – Assists with training, quality assurance, vendor management, and/or other projects pertinent to the daily operations of the Maricopa Contact Center.

10% – Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full‑time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR an equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full‑time work experience as described above, sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications
  • One (1) or more years of experience working in a higher education environment with a role in Enrollment Services (admissions, records, registration, advisement, cashier, financial aid, outreach, or recruitment).
  • One (1) or more years of experience working with finance.
  • One (1) or more years working in a customer service role over the phone.
