Job SummaryIn this position, the Learning Facilitators III (tutors) provide personalized learning support, in person and online (through Web Ex or Google Meet) to Rio Salado College students to enhance understanding, skills, and overall academic performance while fostering relationships with students, staff, and faculty. The session can be one-on-one or small group. We are accepting applications for the following subject areas: math, CIS (MS Office Suite, htm/css, JAVA programming), English/writing, chemistry, and biology (anatomy & physiology, microbiology).
To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus.
- 90% – facilitate student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and promoting/modeling critical thinking, understanding and problem‑solving skills for conceptual understanding and learning; demonstrating, modeling and using appropriate learning/study strategies to promote self‑regulated learning; helping students achieve their learning potential and succeed academically.
- 10% – attend and actively participate in any scheduled tutor training and meetings; maintain a clean and studious environment in the Center; perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's Degree required.
- Completion of courses or equivalent; must have received at least a ‘B’ (preferably an ‘A’).
Preferred candidate has taught or taken the course no more than two years ago unless the courses have been tutored more recently. - Strong willingness to learn and apply innovative strategies for supporting students.
- Sensitivity to varied educational levels/background and cultural differences.
- An interest in the process associated with learning, problem solving and critical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently and professionally.
- Ability and willingness to participate in pre‑semester training, and semester training sessions.
- Experience with MS Office or Google Workspace and video‑conferencing platform.
