The specialist applies evidence-based instructional design principles, learning science, accessibility standards, and quality assurance practices to create intuitive, student-centered learning environments that promote success across online, hybrid, and in-person courses.

The Teaching and Learning Specialist serves as a trusted Canvas and educational technology resource for faculty, providing consultation on course design, Canvas best practices, course organization, accessibility, assessment strategies, and the effective use of university-supported instructional technologies. This position also supports the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies, including generative artificial intelligence, to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement while promoting responsible and ethical use.

As a member of the CISA Teaching and Learning team, this position collaborates with faculty, academic leaders, and university partners to strengthen the quality and consistency of Canvas course experiences across the college. Responsibilities include developing Canvas course templates and instructional resources, supporting faculty development initiatives, conducting course quality and accessibility reviews, and recommending improvements based on instructional best practices and student feedback.

The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about leveraging Canvas and instructional technologies to create exceptional learning experiences that reflect CISA's interdisciplinary mission and Arizona State University's commitment to innovation, inclusion, and student success.

Arizona State University offers a comprehensive benefits package to enhance your total compensation. This package includes flexible work schedules, low-cost health and life benefits, a wellness program for preventative health education and screenings, tuition waiver for benefits-eligible staff members, as well as tuition reduction for their spouses and dependents, a disability and leaves program for income protection, employee assistance for free and confidential behavioral health services, volunteer and professional development release time, disability resources and retirement program designed to promote long-term savings and provide income upon retirement.
