Overview
As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer at Honeywell, you will provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of cast products. Work as part of a Materials Engineering team and collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet evolving customer needs. You will participate in all phases of product development and be a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers.
You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, and work from Tempe, AZ on a hybrid schedule.
- Support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of cast parts; interact with suppliers to resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot material and process issues and provide technical solutions for rapid problem solving.
- Internal engineering support for casting development, drawing reviews, and process improvements.
- Work between suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineers (SDE), and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).
You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (STEM).
- 4+ years of experience in materials/process engineering in the casting industry.
- 4+ years experience with nickel, aluminum, steel, and/or titanium aerospace cast alloys.
We Value
- Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Advanced degree in engineering or related field is a plus.
- Understanding and hands-on experience in casting (Investment/sand casting production processes are a plus).
- Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications;
Nadcap and industry standards, requirements and approvals. - Ability to assess new suppliers and conduct supplier audits (investment castings and sand casting audits are a plus).
- Experience working with and developing suppliers and with Design Engineering; understanding engineering drawings and requirements.
- Experience with Six Sigma, Lean and other process improvement tools.
