Position OverviewAs a Senior Technical Engineer (PE-4), you'll serve as both a technical leader and mentor on advanced transportation and roadway initiatives—with particular focus on DOT and roadway design. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who excels at combining deep technical expertise with strategic guidance across multiple project teams.
You'll be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions, contributing to business development efforts, and shaping technical direction on mission-critical projects.
What You'll Do- Direct complex transportation and roadway projects while ensuring full compliance with DOT standards at the federal, state, and local levels
- Conduct comprehensive QA/QC reviews and approve final plan sets with professional stamp
- Mentor and develop engineering staff—including PEs, EITs, and designers—fostering a culture of growth and knowledge transfer
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance design standards and operational efficiency
- Contribute to proposals, client presentations, feasibility assessments, and technical due diligence for new opportunities
- Develop technical documentation including hydraulic analyses, utility coordination reports, and engineering memos
- Serve as the firm's technical representative in client meetings, public agency forums, and project coordination efforts
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 12–15 years of progressive experience in transportation planning and/or final design
- Advanced proficiency with Civil 3D, Open Roads Designer, Bluebeam
, and pipe network modeling software - Demonstrated success managing projects independently (up to $200K budget)
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
- Capability to provide expert-level technical testimony when needed
