Opportunity
WSP USA is initiating a search for an Estimator (General Construction, MEP, etc.) supporting our client with national construction industry estimating experience. The position may be based in Tempe/Phoenix, AZ;
Chicago, IL;
Las Vegas, NV or Dallas, TX.
The successful candidate will prepare and review construction cost estimates for various construction projects in various stages of development. The Estimator is responsible for providing detailed cost estimates on new construction, rehabilitation, alterations, replacement systems, Capital Improvement Projects (CIP), change orders, Life Cost Analysis, Energy Cost Saving, bid reviews and clarifications, contractor evaluations, and participation in cost negotiations in all disciplines.
The Estimator will accurately review and assess estimating for all project types and internal/external deliverables, and track progress.
Job Duties
- Confer with designers, consultants, and contractors to coordinate and establish detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
- Prepare or facilitate the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and construction.
- Supervise the development of quantity surveys and cost evaluations relating to design documents, contract drawings, specifications, or contract changes.
- Review contractor proposals and compare them to scope of work. Determine fair and reasonable value of work based on the proposal submitted and delineate cost by trade and discipline.
- Communicate with contractors, sub‑contractors, and internal team members to explain the industry standard point of view on reasonable cost of work, as associated with the SOW and conditions.
- Participate in cost negotiations, cost QA/QC, and revision recommendations with justification and quantification.
- Plan, assign, and review the cost estimating work of estimates.
- Perform related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services or equivalent.
- 5–7 years of full‑time technical experience in one of the estimating construction areas of architecture, electrical, mechanical or plumbing.
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of estimating process/procedure, industry related costs, and/or other estimating application.
- Construction contractor estimating experience.
- This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $86,100 - $140,000
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $86,100 - $128,500
