Our national bridge team is seeking to expand our movable bridge practice and to be the engineer of choice for our clients. As a National Senior Movable Bridge Project Manager
, you will play a key role in positioning our team to win key movable bridge projects throughout the country and be a vital member of our Transportation market that focuses on both vehicular and rail bridges. When you join us, you’ll serve in key technical and management roles on movable bridge projects—performing complex structural planning, analysis, and design, leading design teams, managing project work, and serving as a representative of Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.
We’ll challenge you with growth opportunities, including active engagement with business development, client presentations, proposal preparation, estimating project costs, contract negotiations, and overseeing and ensuring that project quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met—all of which help ensure the successful delivery of the project from beginning to end.
Key responsibilities- When serving in the capacity as a Project Manager, be responsible for the overall management, coordination and delivery of design for movable bridges projects, including Design-Build projects.
- Serve as a technical resource and lead staff for engineering analysis and design of complex movable bridges and have a proven background of technical leadership on structural transportation projects.
- Establish work plans and multidisciplinary staffing for movable bridge projects and assist on assignment of project personnel. Plan, direct and coordinate staff, often involving multi-office execution.
- Direct the activities of Project Engineers, Engineers and Technicians to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budgets.
- Work directly with project controls and scheduling staff to manage the project, analyze Earned Value and Schedule performance, and effectively collaborate with team interfaces to ensure project goals and objectives are met within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
- Ensure the overall quality and coordination of the work performed, manage client interfaces, utilize staff efficiently, uphold the reputation of the team and Jacobs, oversee contract management, billing collection, and control project profitability.
- Mentor and train staff‑level engineers.
- Active involvement with the recruitment and retention of key movable bridge staff.
- Active involvement with thought leadership including participation on technical committees and submission of papers/presentations to major bridge conferences.
- Serve as a representative of Jacobs at key client meetings, conferences, presentations and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.
- Active engagement with business development, client presentations, proposal preparation, estimating project costs, and contract negotiations by working closely with sales and operations teams to drive the positioning and winning of movable bridge projects across the Americas.
