What You Will Do- Install, operate, and maintain environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment; analyze data for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and assess environmental risk and develop programs for risk reduction.
- Collaborate in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations.
- Review and/or prepare and maintain detailed records and files of environmental data and communications.
- Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
- Maintain basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures.
- May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and Technicians.
- May serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation).
- Lead or participate in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System.
- Coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements.
- Track and report the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Environmental Scientist II:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or, Business Management or other Bachelor’s degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR
- Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
OR
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
- Applies to both positions above:
- Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)
- Working knowledge of Clean Air Act (CAA) requirements and Arizona air quality regulations
- Experience with Arizona Air Permits (Class II and/or Title V exposure)
- Familiarity with ADEQ permitting processes
- Knowledge of fugitive dust control plans, opacity limits, and visible emissions requirements
- Experience with NSPS and NESHAP applicability evaluations
- Experience with ambient air monitoring and/or source monitoring
- Familiarity with opacity monitoring, Method 9 observations, and visible emissions tracking
