The Control Systems Engineer designs, programs, and commissions advanced PLC-based control systems that support high-efficiency, high-reliability manufacturing and facility operations, with a strong focus on data center, industrial, and GMP/pharma environments. This role executes automation commissioning and validation activities, troubleshoots complex issues, and collaborates closely with internal engineering teams and clients to deliver state-of-the-art solutions that enhance efficiency, product quality, and overall profitability.
Responsibilities- Execute automation commissioning and validation protocols for PLC-based control systems in manufacturing and facility environments.
- Troubleshoot and remediate commissioning and validation non-conformances, ensuring systems meet performance and compliance requirements.
- Work in a collaborative team environment with internal engineers and clients to design and deliver state-of-the-art control systems that improve efficiency, product quality, and profitability.
- Define, configure, and implement programmable logic controller (PLC) architectures and control strategies.
- Perform testing, on-site commissioning, and qualification of control systems, including verification of functionality, safety, and integration with field equipment.
- Program PLCs and associated control platforms, with a focus on Rockwell technologies and related automation systems.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including configuration details, test protocols, validation records, and system changes.
- Manage site, materials, and equipment related to control system installation, commissioning, and support activities.
- Assemble automated equipment and ensure proper integration with PLCs, HMIs, and related control infrastructure.
- Integrate equipment, commission new systems, and troubleshoot issues across GMP, pharma, industrial, and data environments.
- Apply and follow safety protocols on construction and project sites, contributing to a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety analysis of control systems and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and procedures.
- Perform troubleshooting of automation systems, including root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Configure and support control and SCADA platforms such as Rockwell Factory Talk Suite, RSLogix/Studio 5000, Plant
PAx DCS, Aveva System Platform, and Inductive Ignition Perspective. - Work with building automation controllers and protocols, including BACnet and LON controllers and Eclypse controllers, to integrate mechanical and electrical systems into unified control networks.
- Support and maintain power monitoring and building management systems in large mechanical and electrical facilities, including data centers.
- Monitor and sustain power monitoring systems that support GPU-intensive environments, helping extend the lifecycle and reliability of critical equipment.
- Use SQL, scripting languages, and related tools to support data collection, reporting, and system optimization.
- Document work performed, including configuration changes, troubleshooting steps, and final commissioning results, in a clear and organized manner.
- Travel to client sites as required to support commissioning, validation, troubleshooting, and ongoing system support.
- 4+ years of hands‑on experience troubleshooting PLCs, with Rockwell platforms preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in PLC programming.
- 4+ years of work experience in GMP, pharma, industrial, or data environments.
- 4+ years of experience integrating equipment, commissioning, and troubleshooting control systems.
- 4+ years of exposure to safety protocols on construction or project sites.
- 3+ years of experience in a related field or industry.
- Ability to execute assignments with minimal supervision and direction.
- Controls experience with at least one of the following:
Rockwell Factory Talk Suite, RSLogix/Studio 5000, and familiarity with Plant
PAx DCS. - Experience with Aveva System Platform and/or Inductive Ignition Perspective.
