WSP USA, an award‑winning and innovative multi‑disciplinary engineering consulting firm, seeks a Commissioning Agent for our West Offices. Locations include Irvine, CA;
Los Angeles, CA;
Phoenix, AZ; and Seattle, WA. WSP USA works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.

This Opportunity

Our engineers work on high quality, high‑profile, national and international projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of building commissioning processes (new, retrofit, continuous), energy auditing and building retrofit applications, support for sustainability certification applications, and measurement and verification techniques.

WSP USA offers excellent growth opportunities. You will work under the supervision of the senior commissioning lead for the West region, with preliminary participation in business development activities encouraged.

Your Impact
  • Execution of standard building commissioning processes for new and existing construction as outlined in ASHRAE Guidelines.
  • Perform engineering design reviews for commissioning‑related activities.
  • Conduct ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 energy audits.
  • Support obtaining building sustainability certifications such as LEED and Energy Star.
  • Scope work to include a variety of building components: mechanical, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, specialty systems (fire alarm, security), and other enhanced building technology/control systems (nurse call, renewable energy systems, etc.).
  • Possess proficient communication and organization skills to conduct meetings, coordinate schedules, and prepare reports.

  • Prioritize effectively, have good follow‑through, and practice self‑implemented quality‑control measures.
  • Desire to attain Cx, controls and/or TAB certifications.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant years of related field experience in the industry.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post‑education experience in a building or systems commissioning discipline.
  • Familiarity with building commissioning principles, practices, processes, and design/build application to project‑related issues.
  • Familiarity with building planning, design, and installation management, including renovation and new design.
  • Familiarity with smart building design.
  • Highly familiar with relevant building technology/system installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non‑technical audience.
  • Self‑leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi‑tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Experience with discipline‑specific design software (AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $90,800 – $125,000.
