Job Summary
This position provides diverse project teams with engineering, design, analysis, and documentation for new product development, sustaining engineering, process development, and production projects. Design efforts include product development and tooling and equipment.
Essential /Key Job Responsibilities
- Participate as a team member or leader on product design teams and perform all related design functions, including design, analysis and technical writing of analysis reports.
- Create analytical models for as‑used condition material selection, flow rates, and failure‑mode analysis.
- Participate in product design brainstorming sessions.
- Travel to other BD sites, conferences, or training events as needed.
- Ensure that design‑related activities are completed on‑time in support of program goals.
- On occasion function as design lead and coordinate activities of other technical personnel.
- Initiate new or revised documentation and track through appropriate approval cycles and implementation.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with internal and external customers and support staff.
- Provide technical support on components, materials, methods, systems, and equipment.
- Understand and follow company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in and provide input to department and division procedures and policies.
- Analyze problems in design and process development and recommend solutions.
- Prepare and present oral and written project updates and technical discussions.
- 2–3 years of design, analysis and engineering experience in the medical device or other design‑intensive industry.
- 2–3 years experience designing using Solid Works or a 3‑D CAD system.
- Ability to create technical drawings per ASME Y14.5.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work in multifunctional teams.
- Technical writing skills.
- Experience applying GD&T and performing tolerance stack analysis.
- Medical device experience.
- FEA and CFD analysis experience.
- FDA quality system requirements and GMP experience.
- Experience with medical‑grade materials.
- Electro‑mechanical device design.
- Equipment and tooling design experience.
- Prototype development experience, including rapid prototyping.
- Solid Works certification.
- Familiarity applying and interpreting GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
Regularly standing, walking, sitting, using sight, and using hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and office equipment. Frequently verbal communication with other associates. Occasionally requiring reaching with hands and arms and stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Work EnvironmentOpen cubicle environment. Requires working in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment.
