At First United Door Technologies / Safe-Way Door, we don’t do “busy work internships.” We’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented Engineering Intern (Independent Contractor / 1099) to join our manufacturing engineering team and make an immediate impact inside a fast-paced production environment.
This is a hands‑on opportunity to work directly with engineering, operations, inventory, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to improve the systems that keep our business moving. If you love solving problems, working with data, and figuring out how products are actually built—this role is for you.
What You’ll Work OnAs part of our engineering support team, you’ll get exposure to real manufacturing processes and business systems, including:
Bill of Materials (BOM) Management- Maintain and update BOM structures
- Support day‑to‑day engineering data accuracy
- Troubleshoot BOM discrepancies
- Participate in weekly open order BOM reviews
- Support commercial and custom product configurations
- Assist with engineering changes tied to production demand
- Work directly with engineering, production, inventory, purchasing, and operations teams
- Assist with backflush reconciliation
- Help align inventory and production transactions
- Support costing accuracy and purchasing data integrity
- Assist with configurator logic and backend data maintenance
- Support ERP/master data cleanup initiatives
- Identify process improvement opportunities
- Help streamline engineering workflows Support documentation and data governance efforts
- Engineering student or recent graduate (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Systems, or similar)
- Strong Excel / data management skills
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to communicate effectively across departments
- Interest in ERP systems, BOM structures, product configuration, and manufacturing operations
